Concept
In Quebecois folklore, the raconteur, tells folktales of adventure. La Chasse-galerie, tells of lumberjacks who make a deal with the devil to fly their canoe to meet their sweethearts – the catch? touch alcohol and their souls are damned.
Background
Lead designer, Paul Lewandowski’s grandfather Arcadius worked in the kitchen of a chantier (lumber camp) in Quebec, Canada. When Paul was young, his pépère told him many stories and folktales like la Chasse-galerie.
Story
Our concept grapples with the idea of a folk tale and how it has been interpreted through history. The fusion of la Chasse-galerie story with Paul Bunyon coupled with mid-century children's books, which are surprisingly violent, and a dash of couture and street culture results in our two looks.
